Why do a SmartMetric?
Any investment in training often raises the question: "What's the business impact?" The Beyond ROI ResultsCheck, similar to a Level 4-type evaluation, quantifies the impact of training in terms of the business results (i.e., revenue, expense reduction, turnover, profit, win rate, volume, customer satisfaction, etc.)
How does a SmartMetric work? SmartMetric is a careful blend of academic rigor and real-world practicality. Often the most challenging aspect of measurement is not the statistics, it's getting the data for analysis.
We use a proprietary Eight Step SmartMetric Process to guide the measurement. In short, we begin with an evaluation of the business goals and challenges to be addressed by the training. Through executive-level conversations, we work with you to identify the full range of metrics available and to create a "long list" of potential measures. The idea is to end up with one to three key metrics that are directly impacted by the training, and fully-aligned with the business plan.
Once data is collected from internal systems (i.e., compensation, order-fulfillment, billings, operations, etc.), we conduct an analysis to isolate trends in performance that have occurred pre/post the training. When appropriate, we can help in the selection and use of control groups, significance testing, and stratification of the populations. In other words, we'll handle all the thorny technical issues.
